A miller Posted April 7, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thought I'd share some pics from last Thursday's Brooklyn Nets vs Chicago Bulls game in Brooklyn. The Nets lost in the last second...a great all around game. Taken with my m9 w/ 35m lux fle On the way out of the subway Welcome, dear visitor! A miller Posted April 7, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted April 7, 2013 Very good action shots (not so easy with the M9 ) I just wonder why b/w? Hi Andreas. Thanks much for your comments. Indeed, as expected, the wonderful rangefinder qualities of the M9 didn't exactly help much at this game. And in order to achieve a reasonable shutter speed (I think it was 180 in most cases), I had to shoot wide open at 1.4. I am impressed at how (relatively) clear the entire picture is at this wide open aperture. The choice of b/w is purely personal preference on my part. The images were just not clear enough to showcase any particular color tones, and the b/w, to me, does a little better job of honing in on the parts of the image that are in fact sharp (and the intended focal points) as well as isolating the main subjects of the image a little better. All very marginal, and again just a personal preference in this particular context. I've added below an example of one of the pictures in color. Welcome, dear visitor! a.j.z Posted April 7, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 7, 2013 Ater having seen the color version I agree that it works well for this picture as there is less distraction from the player in the middle.
