Peter H Posted April 6, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted April 6, 2013 They're expanding too. Â For those who haven't visited in person, they were in the upstairs part of a nice old converted church just outside Beauly. Downstairs was a much larger area with a shop, gallery and cafe, run and owned by different people altogether. Those people have now moved out and Ffordes have taken over the entire building. Â I understand that some of the expansion is to enable them to carry more stock under one roof, to make their online business much more efficient than when they had separate storage and warehousing. Â It will be worth a visit. Its a very beautiful part of the world. Â Advert over. (I have no links with them apart from being a fairly local customer!) farnz Posted April 6, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted April 6, 2013 ... It will be worth a visit. Its a very beautiful part of the world. ... I couldn't agree more. Glen Affric is a Mecca for landscape photographers, especially in the autumn. Â Pete.
Jeff S Posted April 7, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted April 7, 2013 Well, if I hadn't read this post, I wouldn't have linked to the shop and realized that it's located in Scotland and not near London (although it apparently originated near there). Live and learn...beautiful area, and shop. Â Jeff
gyoung Posted April 7, 2013 Share #6  Posted April 7, 2013 Used to be in Southend, I nearly bought some R equipment from them in the 80s. My theory was that the 'old man' wanted to retire somewhere nice, and if you deal mainly by mail order you might as well be somewhere with a nice view  Gerry
wda Posted April 8, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted April 8, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gerry, I believe the founder had retired before Steve moved north. Originally Ffordes used to be in Basildon Essex before moving east to the coast.
