quarth Posted March 30, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) All - You've been incredibly helpful in the past trying to sort through my transition from dSLR to RF, so I'm requesting your assistance again. I just returned from a trip to Moab, went to pull my images off the SD card, and noticed the following -- numerous images on my SD card are duplicated (e.g., I have "L1000312.DNG" saved five times on the SD card, each taking up exactly 10,328KB and with the exact same date/time stamp). I was able to pull these files off the card separately through some trickery, and sure enough, they are all exactly the same picture, just saved repeatedly. The largest issue here (other than the fact it gives me pause in trusting the camera to save to the SD card correctly) is that my 2gb card ended up only with 1gb in capacity because of all the duplicate images. Interestingly, whenever a filename was duplicated, it *always* copied itself 5 times (so it either saved correctly, or saved five copies). Any ideas?? (I'm using a SanDisk 2.0GB card..) Thanks! farnz Posted March 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 30, 2007 Any ideas?? (I'm using a SanDisk 2.0GB card..) Thanks! Mark, Is your Sandisk 2GB card on Leica's approved list? (For example the Extreme III is not and users have reported problems.) Pete.

There is something wrong with your card or your computer. Simple fact is you can NOT have any 2 files with the same name in the same directory/folder, or in the ROOT, on any storage media. Hard drive, CF/SD card, floppy, thumb drive, you name it. One file would overwrite the other.
yadillah Posted March 31, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 31, 2007 I read your post with interest, as I am having the same problem. I did a couple of experiments. I took 5 pictures (raw plus jpeg). This should give a total of 10. I plugged my camera into the computer and the "Scanner and Camera Wizard" automatically started. I downloaded the pictures and there were 30. I then took the card from the camera and put it into a card reader. This only showed 10 My computer was set to automatically start the "Wizard". Since I have taken the computer off that setting I have had no more trouble (so far). I also use a Scandisk Extreme 3.
Shootist Posted March 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 31, 2007 Also stop using the camera to download images from the card. Buy a card reader.
Sandokan Posted March 31, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 31, 2007 or buy the SD SanDisk Ultra II Plus USB. It has a fold out USB connector, so plugs directly into computer. Also, dont forget to format the card only in the camera (that is what I was recommended to do but dont know why).
