Hi, I have a question on the exposure metering setting on M240.

In the MENU, Light Metering Mode has Classic and Advanced. However, on the SET (picture parameters menu), there is Exposure Metering which has Spot, Center-weighted and Multi-field?

Are both set the same thing? What if I set Classic in Light Metering Mode but Multi-filed in Exposure Metering? I think these are the factory setting.

From those who have the new M for days/weeks, what are your experiences in these setting? What are your recommendation?

Thanks.

In Menu, classic means that meter works reading light reflected on the shutter as in M9 and previous models. If you set 'advanced', light is metered on the sensor (shutter open) as in live view mode.

The choice in SET menu allows you to chose among the three modes when in live view or in Advanced.

So: if you set classic, the options in SET work only in live view

If you set advanced, the options in SET work always, but shutter is open when metering, as in live view.

I hope my summary is clear.

Why is Advanced metering so slow? I can shoot rapidly in classic mode, but have a 2+ sec delay in advanced mode.

Because in Advanced mode the shutter has to cycle from open (for metering) to closed and then to open again for the exposure. In Classic the shutter is closed and ready to fire, with metering off the front of the curtain (blades).
