In the Metropolitan Museum of Art's inconceivably huge collection they've finally proven the provenance and age of this 3rd C BC Hellenic masterpiece which seems to be the inspiration for so many that followed. Part of the confusion was due to a restoration during Roman times, making some scholars believe it was of "Cupid's" era rather than Eros'. It just went on display along with any other pieces inspired by it, including Attic pottery. It's about one meter long.
