Dan Bachmann Posted March 16, 2013 Share #81 Posted March 16, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...M 6 is mechanical, given a service once in 10 yrs it will last a lifetime, and longer.Mechanical M cameras are non-obsolescenc products.... Use mechanical M as back-up, if digital camera dies. ... I can relate to this. This unfailing mechanical thought is the primary reason I consider film useful. There are a few travels where I may not be able to get to electricity for days and being in extreme temperatures. The second case is that for a few months during the Winter I have such little time and energy due to busy seasonal work that I won't want to be in front of a computer to look at the digital files for a month. The film is no disadvantage and it brings me out of the digital virtual world and back to the ground. When the season abruptly ends, I'm in the darkroom and there's great pleasure in the magic there. We all have our very personal reasons for our tools, both practical and psychological.
