Please bear in mind that the Second Seaside Challenge is on 13th April in Whitby.

Oh that sounds great I would love to come to that. It is only 25 miles from where I live

And I would love to meet people. Tell me more!

Going to be a busy weekend. Shard meeting on Saturday, then Bristol Sunday. I'll probably drive into London on Saturday then a quick trip down the M4 for an overnight in Bristol.

Anyone else thinking of attending both meets? If so anyone interested in dinner on Saturday night?

I'm going to try to do both too, Tom, and I believe Mr P. may be as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

There is a chance I may have to fly to Seattle on Saturday the 27th, in which case I wouldn't be able to make either London, or Bristol.

I'm hoping not, but should know for sure sometime this week.

I've had confirmation that I do need to go to Seattle and so unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make either the London, or Bristol meets.

Hope the weather is kind to you all and that you have a great day.

For those who want to go to the top of the shard and enjoy the view apparently it may be necessary to book advance tickets.

I have checked and there are today (8 April) tickets available from 1pm.

I suggest we book some for 2.30pm, if possible, and meet at 11am to 12 in the pub for lunch and then walk around outside first.

Does that sound OK and if so would anyone like me to book the 2.30pm slot for them and bring the cash on the day (5p short of £25) or shall we all try and book individually for 2.30pm?

Better decide soon before bookings go.

For those who don't want to take the view I suggest we meet again at the bottom to continue photographing the interesting local area.

Nick,

Lunch, stroll and then the Shard at 2.30 sounds great to me. How long does £24.95 get you at the top?

If you'd like to PM me your bank details I'll transfer the money so you're not out of pocket or if you'd prefer I'll print off a nice new £25 note and bring it on the day. Your choice.

Pete.

Thanks Pete

I'm happy to order and pay on behalf of others so long as I can get the money back on the day

If I can have a list if definites if who wants a ticket booked my 4pm this Wednesday I will then book after that and collect the money on the day - and if anyone says they are a definite and I buy a ticket for then then they don't turn up I trust they will be good enough to send me a cheque!

I will pm everyone who has indicated they are coming later today too to remind them if this.

Hi Nick,

I'm a definite, I would be happy if you could add me to the list of people you're getting tickets for the Shard as you mentioned.

See you there!

I must teke my tele lens as the views look spectacular! Let's hope it will be a clear day.

Nick have PM'd you.

EDF Energy are re-opening the visitor centres and also conducting tours of some of their nuclear plants. They were shutdown after 9/11 for security reasons.

I have done the public tour of Dungeness B (Dungeness A is being de-commissioned now) and it is an interesting tour, lasts around two hours and you finish the tour in the reactor building looking down on to the reactor pile cap.

Maybe a future Leica meet venue!
