Huge congratulations. Pictures please:)

Its all im thinking about right now.

Yes, we need the full un-boxing experience on YouTube please...

Edit: More seriously, if cameras are being made available in Singapore, what's to stop them shipping to every market? They presumably ordered in enough DHL air-way bills, or am I missing something?

just thought I pitch in. Just spent a good part of this pm in the Leica store at the Raffles hotel singaopre, molesting the leica M(heavy!).

4 sets sold today(2 silver 2 blacks) and there is one more set available but you have to BUY 3 accompanied lens with it!

All 3 leica stores are equipped with a demo set each. so guys around the region if your in town should go down pronto!

p/s- demo sets not for sale

Just got an official statement from Leica Switzerland.

In Switzerland they start today sending the first cameras to the official Leica dealers. They should be available tomorrow at some dealers. Also they have not enough stock to send every official Leica "Boutique" or dealer a camera in Switzerland.

It was also said, that every region has it own shipment schedule. So the cameras sold in Singapore are definitely no demo ware or something like that...

Leica has chosen 28 February 2013 to be the worldwide launch day for the new M.

Traditionally, Leica charges higher prices for same products in Asia over Europe and US.

Moreover Asia gets to start the day 8 hours ahead of Europe and another 8 hours ahead of US.

So by logic, the new M was made available in Asia ahead of other continents.

However Leica choose Singapore to release the M as first beats me but I am honored as a Singaporean. For Leica to only allow early buyers of M to buy it in a set with a lens is a small price to pay for getting the camera early.

Leica Store rang me on 26 Feb afternoon informing me the arrival of the new M on 27 Feb. I made an effort to arrive early upon opening to find myself the 3rd to make payment for the M and only allowed to collect it on 28 Feb '13 (launch date logic according to Leica).

I understand that 10% arrived in Singapore in total number of 150 units of M were made available worldwide on first batch inclusive of demos to reach stores. Not sure how soon the 2nd batch gets to leave factory doors in Leica.

Your dealer is misinformed or lied. Or how could people already get cameras in Munich?

Don't worry.

Hamburg, Berlin and Munich Leica dealers are same. It's Meister Camera.

With numbers like that it sounds like I won't be getting the M anytime soon. Things move slow here in Aus and I'm actually pretty high up on the preorder list. My dealer called me today while I was at work and unfortunately I wasn't able to talk but he briefly mentioned something about Leica Australia distributing it sometime late March :(.

I do not understand why Leica are shipping them in such minuscule numbers if they really have been building them for months. Update with the latest firmware, final functional check and box them up.

Makes me wonder whether the initial build has been a bed of roses or whether there's a late hardware change which is requiring rework of cameras already built.

I think speculating about which numbers are shipped now and how many tomorrow is not worthwhile.

Even if there is someone here saying he has heard that 150 or so were delivered now, this does not mean that it is based on facts.

At one minute we have people here saying they were told by their dealers that none are delivered to a certain region, the next minute we have somebody saying he has got one from the same region.

Yesterday the majority of all "news" was sure that their would be no deliveries until end of March.

Some isolated news on the internet is no reliable source for what happened on a certain day and what will happen tomorrow.

So far no APO regrets whatsoever?

Looks like a piece of optics with absolutely zero tolerances...

No regrets whatsoever. I have compared it with identical shots on 9 Leica 50's including the MATE. Forgot to take my Zeiss Sonnar 1.5/50.

My favorites so far on the MM:

APO50

50/1.0

40/2.0

Yes the 40 beat any lux I used. I will restudy this, but generally I do not do "tests" like this, but since the APO costs $6700 more than the 40, I took a double take on those results.

I did not do focus bracketing as I would have run out of daylight on that specific day. I ran from wide open to f8 except for the MATE f4 to f11.
