Just getting to know my M8. my 5cm f2 Summitar on it when this little chap landed near by.

Still an impressive lens.

This is shot at ASA 160 / f2.8 / 500sec

Yes, the Summitar is a cracker. I had it CLA. It appears to have an amazingly high quality of construction, as do the others that I have from this period (3.5cm Summaron and the 9cm Elmar) The optics are quite good too ;-). I thisnk it pays to have these cleaned if you intend to use them, as most by now have haze present.

I think the Summitar at some settings can give my Summicron 3.5cm f2 a run.

These old lenses from the 50's have a definite character, and this does not necessarily mean 'soft'.
