2Bébèrt Posted January 15, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 15, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) The vertical alignment of my M9 was "out" after hitting a cupboard. I contacted the Belgian Repair Service in Antwerp with the request if I could drop by to have my M9 fixed since this is only a minor repair but I was told to take my camera to a local Leica dealer who would send it to Solms and that it would probably take a few weeks! Apparently this firm only moves boxes and thereby don't deserve this title!! Leica Camera AG - Service - worldwide network The DIY solution crept up and I began my quest for the special vertical alignment tool developed buy Leica. The tool was replicated by a Chinese seller but he had stopped his business. Browsing the web and this wonderfull forum, I found a member who made this tool himself. (member Lindolfi). I kindly asked him if I could buy or borrow his tool but the kind man promptly send me his tool by post. Altough very well packed, it didn't survive the automatic post sorting machine and got stuck somewhere on the way. SO ..... I took out all my tools and attacked my M9 with different screwdrivers. and successfully aligned my viewfinder. Many thanks to member Lindolfi (for the tool) and marknorton (for the anatomy of the M8) !!!
Advertisement Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Hi 2Bébèrt, Take a look here Leica Repair Service Belgium. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted January 15, 2013 Share #2 Posted January 15, 2013 Interesting that the flexible printed circuit board inside the top of the M9 still has the now empty component positions for the top LCD which used to show remaining frames and battery state in the M8. jaapv Posted January 16, 2013 Share #3 Posted January 16, 2013 So there you have the reason I always deal with Customer Service Solms for factory repairs. It saves weeks. This adjustment, for the more fainthearted, can be done on a fast turnaround and reasonable cost by any camera repair service that knows Leica. I prefer Will van Manen. dpitt Posted January 16, 2013 Share #4 Posted January 16, 2013 Sorry to hear you have issues with your M9 and with the Belgian distributor. I only have dealt with Will van Manen and Solms until now. And I can recommend both. It is a pity that high end brands like Leica often neglect their distribution network.
