StS Posted January 13, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) One of my standard dealers for used camera i=2&tx_trproduktgalerie_pi1[page_nr]=1&tx_trproduktgalerie_pi1[produkt]=14426&cHash=d6015e421723ceadbb337cba3e83715d"]s offering a nice IIIg. After having a look at it, I decided the camera is not for me. Firstly, like the factory-new screwmount in Copenhagen, I'm somehow hesitant to use a very well maintained collector's camera for photography. My M3 is a different story, if it breaks, it can be fixed easily, as I have already experienced. Secondly, the collapsible Summicron on my M3 should produce very similar results. Thirdly - maybe I'm too much used to M's but the screwmounts simply feel slightly wrong in my hands. I guess there are simply not for me. Sometimes one needs to take a camera in one's hand to recognise this... Stefan

I have been considering having my II sent in for a checkup somewhere. It's after all in its 9th decade of duty. As for how the camera feels in one's hands, well, that is very individual of course. I have large hands but like the feel of Ms and Barnacks alike. But we're all different naturally.
bill Posted January 23, 2013 Share #5 Posted January 23, 2013 Mine was done by CRR. Apart from needing a week's airing to get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke it was fine. Regards, Bill Sent from another Galaxy

Don't think of sending your Barnack to Leica, but there are plenty of specialists (such as CRR mentioned) who will do whatever is necessary to keep your camera working perfectly!
