Its great in every way except for numrous small bubbles in the elements. From the serial numbers it looked like its manufactured in the 80s. I thought bubbles are only common on older lenses. lct Posted January 5, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted January 5, 2013 I'm not expert by any mean but bubbles were quite common in early lenses. I've got one in my fist Summicron 50 in 1971. Eighties sound a bit late to see numerous of them in the same lens though. Bubbles don't affect IQ generally but can lower the resale value of the lens, which could explain the good price you've got for it if any. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am sure they to eliminate them as they probably caused some contrast loss, but even more so grinding had to be done to keep them internal and not surface on the completed element.
