jaapv Posted January 6, 2013 Share #21 Posted January 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ummm... Actually the Visoflex is still one of the best Macro systems around. The 135/4.0 lens head has not been surpassed by any modern lens.

Cunha Posted January 6, 2013 Author Share #22 Posted January 6, 2013 Pardon my ignorance but how can I achieve a x5 magnification that I´ve with the Canon MP-E 65mm, with the Visoflex and that particular lens (or any Leica lens)? With bellows?
jaapv Posted January 6, 2013 Share #23 Posted January 6, 2013 Bellows of course if you use the lens head. With the Photars you can get into micro photography beyond 1:1. With all due respect, that little lens you linked to is one step up from a toy imo. For one thing, the fixed ring LEDs cannot shape the light. Welcome, dear visitor! Cunha Posted January 6, 2013 Author Share #24 Posted January 6, 2013 With bellows of course. Thanks. About the "toy"; I don´t know that lens, never use or saw it. Only on that page. I´m just trying to solve my problem, switching to Leica M maintaining my macro ability beyond 1:1. As far as I could read the Visoflex III is usable with a set of lens (I don´t know which). Not ALL lens. I noticed also that Novoflex has a nice bellows for M lens. I could start with a M8.2 and a Visoflex III+bellows. So, what 35mm lens would be good for this? Can I use a Zeiss lens too with the Visoflex III? (this is becoming another topic, maybe) .-(
jaapv Posted January 6, 2013 Share #25 Posted January 6, 2013 35 is far too short for macro. The perspective is all wrong. With the bellows you need the correct adapter for the lens head or lens. Normally they come with the ring for the 135/90. There are so many macro options in the Leica world To begin with there is the legacy of the R system, which can be used for instance on the Canon 5D series. Zoom lenses with Macro setting don't go beyond close-up There are the 60 (Excellent), 100/4.0 (very good) and 100/2.8 apo (superb) macro lenses which will take you to 2:1 and 1:1 with adapters. In the M system there is the 90/4.0 macro set, again more like close-up, and all the permutations of the Visoflex III system, with a good 65 on the bellows, and the superb 135 Tele-Elmar, older versions have a detachable lenshead which goes on the bellows, but even popping the full lens on the Viso will give limited but excellent macro to about 2:1. Not to mention all the various extension tubes, Elpro diopters, Photar micro lenses etc. Most of it is not too difficult to find on the used market. Erik Gunst Lund Posted January 6, 2013 Share #26 Posted January 6, 2013 I have sent 5 raw files as shot from my M8u....Lets hear the verdict So how was the quality?
Cunha Posted January 6, 2013 Author Share #27 Posted January 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) 35 is far too short for macro. The perspective is all wrong. I know just a few things. That´s why I need help. 35mm is almost 50mm (46,...) mounted on the M8; with the Visoflex will be more than 50mm I think... with bellows... There are 50mm macro. Not the best but works. Mine is 65mm. More tele, better macro from a distance, etc. I can only afford one lens to start and a body. 35mm or 50mm will be. For everything and macro. In time I´ll upgrade according to my needs and money. Cunha Posted January 6, 2013 Author Share #28 Posted January 6, 2013 So how was the quality? Great, Erik. Did some PS resizing for offset specifications and works. Some editing to evaluate the files. I can use that camera for my own work. Thanks a lot. That´s the kind of help I needed.

Erik Gunst Lund Posted January 7, 2013 Share #30 Posted January 7, 2013 I will definitely keep my DSLR for macro and telephoto work :-) I will have to test my 135mm 4 Tele Elmar on my Nikon Bellows after your praising words...
