Car accident in Jeddah (M Monochrom)

Merry Christmas.

This is my first photo post and I hope theme was not too poorly chosen. I was on my way to work then got stuck in a traffic jam. As traffic crawled, I realised that a car had overturned and was being lifted by a crane. I managed to take a few shots as I passed by and got them processed as soon as I came back home.

The whole atmosphere was strangely calm and surreal. I didn't see an ambulance, but I hope that the passengers are well and/or recovering.

My technique is still poor as I only started using a rangefinder last week (after 25 years of SLRs). I used a Monochrom and a 50 Summicron at around f/8. Post in LR4 and Silver Efex.

The second shot is actually very good IMHO. The alignment of the 5 figures gives a certain tension to the frame and the fact you DON'T see the accident, just the remains on the street, makes it even more interesting. Also very nice b&w.

Thanks for showing.

Mike

Much obliged. It was a tough shot as I was in a moving car!

Here's the smugmug link of cops shot. Amazing MM and 50'cron image quality (from someone who shot Canon primes).

very interesting photos!! i do think the 3rd one would be much cooler without the crashed car in it.....just the people standing and staring at something would be great.

I tried a couple of variations; which do you prefer: A, B or C?

Option A:

Option B:

Option C:

I think it is fine as shot. Makes me wonder if the man standing on the wall was the driver and his clothing got caught up with the brake pedal!

If anything I would crop out the men on the right as their attention is directed elsewhere.
