Availability of Series VIII ND Filters for Leica 21mm Summilux?

I've been looking for these mythical ND filters (Series VIII) for the 21 Summilux, to no avail. Even the large on-line retailers do not stock them. Does anybody know a source for these (where they are in stock)?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My understanding is that B+W planned on discontinuing production of this filter size.

 

This was told to me early last year by the Australian B+W distributer (Mainline Photographic) when I received my order of series VIII skylight & ND filters.

 

You could pay lots on ePay or contact B+W direct. There is also a large European dealer who specialises in filters but I can't recall the name (I'm sure someone else here can help)

Thanks Mark. I had heard the same, but I was hoping I could still find a filter somewhere. I know there's a Leica E82 filter adapter available, that would allow me to use ND filters (without the hood), but I'm guessing it leads to a larger (clumsier) set-up. I don't know for sure, because I don't have the 21/1.4 yet.

I would NOT use it without the hood. The outer lens element protrudes beyond the lens so the hood is very important to protect the lens.

I'd be very surprised if you found a retailer anywhere in the world who routinely stocks Series 8 filters these days. I guess you'll have to order them directly from the manufacturers like Heliopan or B+W, or track down used ones on eBay or photo swapmeets.

I actually contacted them and they're out of stock. They can place an order for me, certainly, but it will take three weeks to have it made. The trouble is, I will be going on a trip right about that time and might not have the filter in time.
