I have just acquired a used D-Lux 5 and used it initially for close-up photos of coins with good results. Sometimes when focusing a small camera icon pops up on the monitor similar to this (( )) ... with a camera within the brackets ... My draft had a camera icon within the brackets but it will not reproduce in the uploaded forum message

Hello,

the icon warns about camera shake due to anticipated low shutter speed.

Open the lens aperture, increase iso or better, stabilize the camera on a tripod, beanbag, whatever. (Beware that moving objects in the image obviously cannot be 'stabilzed' his way ;)

Perhaps someone else can elaborate on the camera's built-in optical stabilzer. Although activated, I am not sure it actually is all that actve...

Thanks ... I'm using the camera in self timer mode on a copy stand so it's stable ... I had not come across this icon previously on other cameras.

Cheers
