Perhaps some who can not see a difference. If you are looking at inkjet prints, you may not see it. I get 16x20 prints from Epson every time they develop a new printer. So far I am not impressed. they look muddy and flat. I have many other printer samples at camera stores and they do not please me either. They do look like film or worse mostly. My prints look like new money and the fine engraving you see. They are much sharper than what I ever got with my Leica enlargers and they are not over sharpened. I used 25 x magnifiers and glass carriers and carefully aligned enlargers. Mostly I use the default sharpening in camera raw or lower it some and use a small amount after JPEG conversion. The prints are done on a laser printer at a commercial lab, the only Kodak certified lab in Illinois. I have worked with other labs and can not get the same quality. AiPro Lab.com if you want to send them a file. If you get a bad print, it is your fault. I use the economy prints which they do not correct at all. Your system will need to be color corrected An 8x12 is just a few dollars. They are close to my home back in an industrial district and the consumer trade will not find them. I haven't seen an inkjet print that excites me when compared with the same file printed by an experienced calibrated lab with a laser printer on photographic paper. My concept (long version): bright clean detailed highlights and rich detailed shadows, precise control of color and contrast over the entire tonal range, full gradation, fine detail, minimal artifacts. (short version) big prints that make gallery owners gasp. When I use film it's because I like the Leicaflex SL. When I use the DMR it's because I prefer the prints made from its files.
