Hello Everyone,

My name is Thomas Laberge Briere and I am a 22 year old photographer from Montreal Canada. I have been into photography for a couple of years now already, mostly in the digital world, but I had already shot a bit of film when I was younger.

I have been working at Camtec Photo (also known as "Leica Boutique") here in Montreal for almost a year now and this is where I really discovered my passion for film and the rangefinder dynamic. I still enjoy shooting my 5D mk II for different reasons (mostly jobs and moments that require a bit more versatility, playing around in post-prod, etc.) but shooting with rangefinders really takes my artistic side, and photography in general, to another level. I really enjoy the dynamic, slowness and evaluation behind every shot. I was already going in that direction with my DSLR, having recently started to use Zeiss ZE lenses (manual lenses) on my 5D. Although it's still really nice for a lot of things, it wasn't the ideal setup for street. Working at Camtec Photo with a great team, great clients and a very knowledgeable owner, Jean (as some of you may know personally), really changed my perspective and has really made me learn a lot about this rangefinder world and philosophy. After several months of playing around with, M7s, M8s, M9s, Zeiss Ikons, Bessas, etc. I finally decided to get myself an M6 with a Zeiss ZM 50mm F2 last week to start (student budget hehe) and I will eventually be getting a 28mm, which is really one of my favorite focal lengths. So far, I am really happy with my move, the M6 really is my favorite Leica body; compact, discreet, user friendly and brings back all the basics of photography, plus, I really enjoy shooting film again! I get to carry it around every day when I am going to university, which I couldn't really do with my DSLR setup. I already can't wait to see the results of my first films!

Anyways this is getting a bit long so I will finish by saying that you should drop by the store and say hi if ever you are in Montreal, until then, I look forward to posting and discussing with all of you on the forum!

Cheers,

Thomas :)

Enjoy the forum, and enjoy the M6 even more, I recently bough a M6 'Classic' but since it has the shutter speed dial in reversed direction as the M9 and M8 I swapped it in for a M6 TTL.

I'm really enjoying film as wel, it's new for me but it's been great thus far!
