Jon_Robert_White Posted December 3, 2012 Share #1 Posted December 3, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear Forum Members A walk of Old Town Poole and The Quay Come and join the staff at Robert White Photographic on a photo walk of historic Poole Quay and Old Town. This is your chance to speak with the staff and take some street style images in a relaxed and casual setting. And best of all it is totally FREE. We have even managed to speak to a representative at Leica UK who will attend the walk with some equipment including Leica S, Leica M Monochrom, Leica X2, D-LUX 6, V-LUX 4 plus more for you to try. We are always being asked where can I take pictures in the local area. So the idea of this walk is for you to see the wonderful part of the country we live in and most importantly for you to take some pictures so please bring your camera equipment on the day. So what is the plan? The walk will take place on Sunday 9th December 2012 and the meeting point is the Robert White Photographic Car Park outside the shop. We plan to meet there around 10am and then drive to Poole Quay. Please note that we are unable to provide transport but hope that many of you will car share. We have decided to park at the Baiter Car park – Labrabor Drive Poole (Pay and Display – please bring change for parking meter) We then plan to walk towards the Quay through the boat yard, Fisherman’s nets and the little Lifeboat museum into the Quay itself where new and old buildings come together next to an incredible array of luxury yachts and boats moored in the harbour. We will then have time to visit the new Twin Sails Bridge and then back into the Old Town area of Poole where you can explore to your hearts content. There are many interesting features here including the Customs House, The Guildhall and the Parish Church of St James. How much time you spend in Poole is up to you. If you wish to stay and do your own thing this is fine. Alternatively the Robert White staff will be opening the shop from 3.00 pm so if you wish to come back for tea and biscuits or to do a bit of shopping or even to chat to the staff or the Leica representative we will be happy to facilitate until 4.30pm. As mentioned this walk is totally free of charge but spaces are limited so if you wish to attend please give us a call on 01202 723046 or send an email to sales@robertwhite.co.uk in both cases confirming your contact telephone number and email address. What if the weather is bad? If the weather is so bad that the walk will not take place we will endeavour to contact you in the morning. Email is the preferred option. Instead we will then open the shop for you to visit to either shop, chat or just to eat all our biscuits! Bad weather opening times will be 10am – 3pm. It would be good tyo see you on the day Jon
Advertisement Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Hi Jon_Robert_White, Take a look here 9th December 2012- Photo Walk With Leica Poole Dorset UK. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted December 3, 2012 Share #2 Posted December 3, 2012 Jon, I live at the other end of the country, so can't make it, but it sounds like a great chance for people to use equipment they otherwise wouldn't have a possibility of using. calshot Posted December 3, 2012 Share #3 Posted December 3, 2012 Tempted! For years I travelled down to Poole on the train for work so know it well.Might be too short notice though i'll start thinking? Rob
wda Posted December 3, 2012 Share #4 Posted December 3, 2012 Jon, this is a splendid initiative, but unfortunately I will not be able to make it. I wish you a successful day.
farnz Posted December 4, 2012 Share #5 Posted December 4, 2012 Jon, A lovely idea but I doubt that I'll be able to join you because it's not possible to reach Poole from London by 10.00 am by train on a Sunday without incurring a 9 hour journey that starts at about midnight and includes a 4 hour stop-over in Southampton in the wee, small hours. The first train arrives in Poole at 10.33 so a rendezvous point somewhere around The Quay at, say, 11.00 would make it possible or alternatively if we could exchange contact mobile phone numbers by private message here I could catch you up perhaps? Pete.
Jon_Robert_White Posted December 4, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted December 4, 2012 Thank you Pete If it helps we are planning more days in the new year and perhaps we can adjust the start time. Jon
lanetomlane Posted December 6, 2012 Share #7 Posted December 6, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Jon, the Walk-About sounds great and I would have certainly been up for it but for the fact that I'm presently in Japan and only returning on the 13th. If you do arrange another event in the New Year perhaps you could provide a little more advanced notice. Sincerely hope that the day is a success. Best regards, Tom
