naturephoto1 Posted November 29, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted November 29, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought that I would post a couple of images taken in 1998 with the f5.6 800mm Modular Apo Telyt lens that Leica USA loaned to me for a month. Beautiful piece of glass that I wish that I could have afforded at the time. Both photos taken on Provia 100 film with Leica R7 camera. Â The first photo "Looking Toward the Heavens" : Photo of a male Anhinga in breeding plumage taken along the Anhinga Trail in Everglades National Park, Florida in February of 1998. The bird was down an embankment and was about 14 feet away, the closest that the 800mm lens would focus. Lens set to f11 due to "no" DOF. Â The second photo: "Her-on-Him": Photo of a nesting pair of Great Blue Herons taken at the Venice Rookery in Venice, Florida in February of 1998. Her is on the left and him is on the right. Â I would love to have this lens, but the cost. Â I will post more from this series. I have an 280mm f4 Apo Telyt on its way to supplement my 280mm f2.8 Apo Telyt and my rebalanced 560mm f6.8 Telyt lenses. Â Rich Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

OK so I will post additional images in this thread taken in 1998 with the f5.6 800mm Modular Apo Telyt on Provia 100 film with my Leica R7 camera. Â The first image: "Over the Shoulder" Photo of a Little Green Heron taken at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Sanibel Island, Florida in February of 1998. The Green Heron was down an embankment about 14 feet from the camera. Â The second image: "Least Bittern" Photo taken of a Least Bittern (I believe a female) taken in Everglades National Park, Flamingo, Florida in February of 1998. These are very secretive birds and if you look closely, the Bittern is supporting itself with only 1 leg on a single reed indicating how small and light they are. In addition to the the f5.6 800mm Modular Apo Telyt Leica lens, the 1.4X Apo Extender (effective 1120mm) was used. Â Rich Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Â The first image: "Yellow Slippers" Photo of a Snowy Egret taken in early morning, Everglades National Park, Flamingo, Image taken on Fujichrome Astia 100 film; Fuji film USA was to use this a Photo Plus West but decided not to at the last minute. Â The second image: "Great Blue Heron" Photo of a Great Blue Heron in breeding plumage taken in Everglades National Park, Flamingo, Florida in February of 1998. Image taken with in addition to the f5.6 800mm Modular Apo Telyt the Leica 1.4X Apo Extender (effective 1120mm) on either Fujichrome Provia 100 or Astia 100 film. I like the colours of the first one and the extraordinary position of the bird and composition. The composition in white is much admirable and of course all results are very good. Â The first image, "Testing the Waters" Photo of an immature Tri Colored Heron (formerly called Louisiana Heron) stepping down into the water, Everglades National Park, Flamingo, Florida in February of 1998. Image recorded on Fujichrome Provia 100 or Astia 100 film. Â The second image, "Mirror Image" Photo of of a Pied Billed Grebe (the only Grebe in North America without a hooked bill) taken in Golden Hour approaching or in sunset light, Everglades National Park, Flamingo, Florida in February of 1998.
