fotografr Posted November 19, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted November 19, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) She had a small rat in her talons and was resting on a wooden chair in our back garden just a couple of feet on the other side of a fence, so I was able to sneak right up to her without scaring her off. I was amazed how close she let me get. A few minutes later she had devoured the rat.

Messsucherkamera Posted November 20, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted November 20, 2012 That is just a spectacular image - you can even see individual cilia like feathers protruding from near the beak. When you can see that on a computer screen, you know you have some serious image quality.

fotografr Posted November 23, 2012 Author Share #10 Â Posted November 23, 2012 While I still prefer the b&w version, I thought I'd post the color for comparison, since this bird was such a magnificent specimen.
Iduna Posted November 23, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted November 23, 2012 Brent, Â thanks for the color version. This is equally good because here the soft colors od the plumage and the beak and eyes are of significant character. But as a portrait, the B & W maybe more subtle in favour of the whole figure.. It is really hard to tell and one of the rare case where both versions work well. Thanks for sharing the comparison.

fotografr Posted November 27, 2012 Author Share #13 Â Posted November 27, 2012 Thanks, Paul. This was with the M8 and 90 Elmarit. I've cropped out about two-thirds of the image, then enlarged a bit more using bilcubic smoother in CS5.
