She had a small rat in her talons and was resting on a wooden chair in our back garden just a couple of feet on the other side of a fence, so I was able to sneak right up to her without scaring her off. I was amazed how close she let me get. A few minutes later she had devoured the rat.

That is just a spectacular image - you can even see individual cilia like feathers protruding from near the beak. When you can see that on a computer screen' date=' you know you have some serious image quality.[/quote']

Brent,

 

thanks for the color version. This is equally good because here the soft colors od the plumage and the beak and eyes are of significant character. But as a portrait, the B & W maybe more subtle in favour of the whole figure.. It is really hard to tell and one of the rare case where both versions work well.
