chris_tribble Posted March 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear LUF members, Following suggestions from a number of you I'm putting up a supplementary survey of our use of M8 batteries and SD cards. We hope this information will help Leica narrow down some of the issues. I've deliberately kept the survey very short. If you have more extensive comments that you wish to make regarding M8 design or other features, please add these to the main M8 experience survey. To complete the survey, visit: Leica M8 - battery experience Best

mitchell Posted March 19, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 19, 2007 Where do I find battery serial numbers? The only number I find on all three of my batteries is 14464. Thanks, Mitchell
wparsonsgisnet Posted March 19, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 19, 2007 Where do I find battery serial numbers? The only number I find on all three of my batteries is 14464. Thanks, Mitchell They are REALLY hard to see. They're on the end of the small piece that has the battery contacts, at the end opposite from the contacts. I used a flashlight at an angle to make the letters more visible.
grober Posted March 19, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 19, 2007 How have you marked or color-coded your batteries so you can tell them apart in the field? (I don't want to introduce anything foreign that might harm either the battery or the camera but I do need a handy indicator so I can quickly tell them apart.) -g
chris_tribble Posted March 19, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted March 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I put an elastic band around those that are discharged - always keep a supply in a bag or trouser pocket. Low tech but it works.
LJL Posted March 19, 2007 Share #8 Posted March 19, 2007 They are REALLY hard to see. They're on the end of the small piece that has the battery contacts, at the end opposite from the contacts. I used a flashlight at an angle to make the letters more visible. And on the original that came with my M8 (Nov 06), there is NO NUMBER at all. I thought I might have worn it off, but there is no number or remnant of a number on that one. On my spare, there is a number, and yes, it does require a bit of work to see and read LJ
marknorton Posted March 19, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 19, 2007 The numbers are not printed, they're stamped into the plastic. I put different colour circular dots on mine, on the end visible when the battery is in the camera.
jaapv Posted March 19, 2007 Share #10 Posted March 19, 2007 BIG yellow paint stripes on them. My wife used to have a yellow car and the touch-up paint happened to be lying on my desk.
cbretteville Posted March 19, 2007 Share #11 Posted March 19, 2007 Numbered with roman numerals on both ends, simply thake the next one in line. Used the same system for my three D2 batteries, works for me.
mitchell Posted March 19, 2007 Share #12 Posted March 19, 2007 Thanks Bill, Hard to see, but not impossible once you know where to look. Two of mine have no numbers. The other one has clear numbers. Best, Mitchell
