I suppose he succeeds in his aim. Members are constantly quoting/lauding/criticising him. I have never felt the need to consult his reviews. But I do feel sorry for his family who depend on his website for food. (So he claims).

I use the frameline preview lever all the time. I think it is an incredibly useful tool, to do just that - preview frames. Since I have 28/35/50/90mm lenses, this little lever has saved me numerous lens changes.

Now that said, I think the ME is a very nice camera, and I could probably live without the lever, but making such statements is just killing your own message.

Can you not visualise? I'm not being rude, genuinely curious.

Of course I can visualize. I can visualize KR raking it in and having the last laugh.

I occasionally visit his website, mainly for entertaining reasons rather than information. ;)

But tell you what? I'm kind of envious. He earns a living by playing with all that fantastic gear. I would love to do that!

;)

Oh, that he could make a living using, instead of his masturbating* over, all of that fantastic gear:D

*Moderators...am I allowed to say that?

Still unsure whether his tone is ironic or if he's actually serious

Anyways, there are no Google ads and people probably won't click his sponsored links, so us visiting his website will only result in the augmentation of his bandwidth costs.

Yes I too have never been able to work out if he is serious, funny ironic, or...well who knows. The whole "Leica Man" thing he bangs on about is utterly hilarious. It's either really, very funny, and quite comical OR very sad depending on his intentions. It does kinda read tongue in cheek though. But maybe that's giving him too much credit.

Either way he writes something questionable like he has now about the preview lever and he gets to read about himself for a couple of forum pages...cheap thrills.

To date, Rockhead has not made one ironic ⸮ statement. Irony is neither sarcasm nor ignorance. It is the opposite.

Thank goodness that's not the case.

If Ken was as good at making images as he is at masturbating, Cartier-Bresson's work would be tossed in dumpsters behind museums all over the world, having been replaced by Ken's "masterpieces."

:D:D:D Very funny!

You do of course realise that I was being as sarcastic as you regarding his photo taking.

I think he enjoys taking a swipe at some of those people (not any of US, of course!) who have a tendency to get just a little bit precious about our cameras, who worry about the colour of the dot for example, or whether the grey has a greenish tint to it.

I find him amusing exactly because he's puerile. Anyone who takes it all seriously deserves to be made a little fun of, surely?

I like KR, much like I like many comedians. I don't take him seriously at all. There are so many KR-isms it's great. We need KR, just to be able to laugh at our selve's.

Bill, Are you equating people who use the fame preview lever, with EVF/live view folks? Just curious (and maybe a bit rude)

No disrespect was intended - only good natured ribbing (you are relatively safe, thanks to geographic separation; I am on the same continent with the formidable Mr. Rockwell and may have to enter the FBI witness protection program).

Now, THAT´s just what we all need: to get a preview of the fame we hope will come to us in the future....:p

I can see that KR sees no need for one, however

Well, there has been people who want a 40mm frame line, and in a "What lens you would like to see?" thread somebody asked for a 43mm lens. AND there has always been complaints about frame lines do not match the image at infinity....

And KR will most likely not like the idea. :D

Resisting the temptation to call that a troll, but would instead refer you to the priceless pic earlier in the thread of Stanley Kubrick using a loupe to visualize a scene. One could hardly argue his mastery of optics, composition, and visualization. Yet he still found the tool useful in his work. I've known some excellent fine art photographers that carry an empty slide mount about with them to assist in framing, all with decades of experience (or at least old enough to remember slide film).
