santila Posted November 7, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) My new D-Lux 6 arrived today with the EVF3 and a spare battery. Camera is very small IMO needs the grip, the EVF is brilliant. These photos attached are jpeg directly out of the camera. I went for the DL6 after three weeks logging around 10kg.+ gear in the Dolomites and Hungary. I said to myself I need a high quality smaller camera then my Canon EOS 5DMKII and the EOS 7D. Altough my trusted little Olympus EPL1 is quite a a performer but I just wanted to have the Leica look along with my other cameras. Welcome, dear visitor! Digitom Posted November 8, 2012 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2012 My new D-Lux 6 arrived today with the EVF3 and a spare battery. Camera is very small IMO needs the grip, the EVF is brilliant. These photos attached are jpeg directly out of the camera.I went for the DL6 after three weeks logging around 10kg.+ gear in the Dolomites and Hungary. I said to myself I need a high quality smaller camera then my Canon EOS 5DMKII and the EOS 7D. Altough my trusted little Olympus EPL1 is quite a a performer but I just wanted to have the Leica look along with my other cameras. Thanks for the pictures! As I have a D-Lux 5, I think the D-Lux 6 is a very good camera too. No recognisable distortion at the last picture. Also the Aperture feature 1.4 is marvellous (it is a compact camera!) and gives chance to get more quality in "available light" conditions. Also I think there is no big chance to play with the sharpness and bokeh(?) maybe because the sensor is very small. Unfortunately the dimensions of these 2 cameras are different, so one has to buy all the supplement (grip, protector/halfcase) again. So at the moment I decided not to switch. But the EVF with its high resolution sure is one of biggest advantages.

jcrutcher Posted November 17, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 17, 2012 No the evf-3 will not fit a d-lux 5, you need the evf-1. Here are a couple of my first D-lux 6 shots. santila Posted November 18, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted November 18, 2012 Is there any RAW files support on the http://owners.leica-camera.com site? I could not get there on their provided link to download LR4.
santila Posted November 18, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted November 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I did find the answer, on the Leica download site they tell that earlier version of LR 4 will not support the DL 6, OS XP will not support LR 4 therefore I am stuck since I have XP as OS. Digitom Posted December 28, 2012 Share #12 Posted December 28, 2012 After checking some times (for short time) the possibilities of D-Lux 6, I think the biggest advantage over the 5er version is the aperture of 1.4 in combination with ND filter. One argument to buy one. But would be interesting if the different size of sensor (that of Number 6 is smaller) is balancing out this advantage so one has no benefit of that features? I do not know. In german forum someone came out with calculations of areas of sensor size comparing, but that is not practical IMHO. In fact, it is a pity that sensor size is different. Also I read about distortions of the lens at wide angle with model 6 is bigger, and some mention the sharpness ist not as good. BUt finally I cannot believe that things. How about your experiences? santila Posted December 28, 2012 Author Share #13 Posted December 28, 2012 For me the D-Lux 6 working. Took a walk today and shot some winterscapes. These photos are .jpeg, unadjusted, directly out of the camera. I am a happy "camper", you be the judge. Enjoy! Welcome, dear visitor! santila Posted December 31, 2012 Author Share #17 Posted December 31, 2012 My "extended" family stopped by for lunch but they stop almost everyday and running short of apples. It is only end of December and we got at least two more months ahead of before the landscape is opening up. I do post some of the D-6 files just for you to see what the camera capable to do directly out from jpeg files I only post process if needed. To me snow is snow, WHITE! And all the photos showing correctly snow as is, maybe around the Bodensee, snow is other color then white. Welcome, dear visitor! Perfect exposed photo, And definitely, snow has same color at Bodensee Greeting from "tief im Suedwesten" (not so deep located as lake of constance, but also not so far away from there)
Cliqueography Posted January 4, 2013 Share #19 Posted January 4, 2013 It's great to finally see some images from the D-Lux 6! I bought mine just before Christmas and it was very difficult trying to find sample images, as the camera is so new and not many review sites seem to have looked at it yet, or they just reviewing the Panasonic LX7 version. It would have been a waste of time to look at LX7 images though, as Leica re-engineer the product and change both the software and firmware for the D-Lux version. I remember looking at a comparison of D-Lux 5 Vs LX5 images some time ago and there was quite a difference (even more so at higher ISO's). The D-Lux 6 is my first ever Leica (bought from Dale Photographic in Leeds, UK), and I am enjoying it immensely and I hope to be adding an X2 to my new Leica collection in around six months time. viento Posted January 12, 2013 Share #20 Posted January 12, 2013 Thanks for posting those excellent photos! I was on the verge of getting a D-Lux 6 too, but was a bit disappointed of the fact that it only has 10 Megapixels and the ISOs don´t get into more higher regions. So I just now ordered a Sony RX 100 and will see if I´m going to keep it... The lenses of both are almost kind of siblings
