KhakiMan Posted November 6, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Digilux 2 on the way, courtesy of EBay, and wondered what others were using for a remote shutter release. I tend to do a lot of night shots and would like to see how the camera handles daytime long exposures with an ND filter. Appreciate any guidance. Advertisement Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Hi KhakiMan, Take a look here Remote Release for Digilux 2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pop Posted November 6, 2012 Share #2 Posted November 6, 2012 I use the remote release which came with the Panasonic DMC-LC1. It's labelled as Panasonic DMW-RS1. You might need an extension cord.
Ernstk Posted November 7, 2012 Share #3 Posted November 7, 2012 I have the Leica remote release CR-DC1, which is a bit plasticky, but works fine. Ernst
wda Posted November 7, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 7, 2012 I have the Leica remote release CR-DC1, which is a bit plasticky, but works fine. Ernst Ernst, this is no longer available. I have mislaid mine and would like to find an alternative. OP, I use the delayed action quite effectively. It is worth experimenting with this option. mija1789 Posted November 7, 2012 Share #5 Posted November 7, 2012 There are many options available on e*bay, wireless or wired. Here is an example.
KhakiMan Posted November 8, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted November 8, 2012 I found a third-party release that has a few additional features that might be fun to try (time lapse, timer, lcd screen). On both eBay and Amazon. Will update this thread after it arrives.
KhakiMan Posted November 14, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted November 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) All of this may be a moot discussion... 8 seconds is the maximum exposure? No Bulb option, even with a remote release?
mija1789 Posted November 14, 2012 Share #8 Posted November 14, 2012 And with ND filter? Still not long enough?
KhakiMan Posted November 14, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted November 14, 2012 Waiting for the ND filter to arrive, but I wouldn't think so. Strange that the remote release doesn't allow any exposure length. Might have to rethink long exposures with the camera.
mija1789 Posted November 14, 2012 Share #10 Posted November 14, 2012 I believe it has to do with preventing the sensor from overheating. It's a tiny one and the internal temperature could quickly raise.

Christian Just a few days ago I have been in Wetzlar at Leica Event days. Someone from HAMA photo supplement told me that there will be a new remote shutter release from about January 2013 available. It will be only for manual operation (open shutter, close shutter when pressing twice I think), and the cost will be only about 20 Euro. At the moment there is a remote release shutter from HAMA which has interval and is programmable. Cost is about 65 Euro. Maybe you can look at HAMA website for that units.
