wlaidlaw Posted September 23, 2013 Share #263 Posted September 23, 2013 Andy, The appointment with my ankle surgeon for final x-rays and check up in Basel has been changed from the Friday to the Thursday, as their scanner is due to be serviced on the Friday. I have therefore managed to extend my stay at the Mercure in Wetzlar so that I can arrive on the Friday afternoon rather than the Saturday just before lunch as previously. If you can get to the factory for 10ish, you're welcome to join the throng. Since I doubt if I will be finished in Basel until around 19.00 on the Thursday, I doubt if I can get to Solms that early. I have arranged to stay near Freiburg for the Thursday night, which allowing for hold ups and the never ending road works on the A5, is around 4 hours from Wetzlar/Solms, so I will see the team on Friday afternoon. erl Posted September 28, 2013 Share #273 Posted September 28, 2013 In the face of opposing health and financial constraints, I have decided to join the 'riff raff' journeying to Wetzlar. I will arrive at Frankfurt early am on Thur 10. I am assuming I can get a local train from there to Wetzlar. Does anyone have info on facilities to commute between Wetzlar station and the hotel area. I am sure there will be something but after 25+ hrs flight I may not think so clearly at the time. Google earth says its 1+ Km so maybe I can walk it. BTW, I will be a contender for dinner on the Sat night and hope to fit into one of the factory tours if there is still room. Anyone else arriving early? I can PM my mob. Ph. # to catch up. Apparently there is a a bit of something happening in Wetzlar that W/E. I'm still plotting where else to travel while there, to justify the airfare!
