Keith (M) Posted November 2, 2012 Share #1 Posted November 2, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) LaserSoft have emailed an upgrade offer from my current v6.5 software to the new v8. Mostly I use my V700 for b&w and only occasionally for colour. When I first bought the V700 I tried the EpsonScan, SFast 6.5 and VueScan software, really expecting the latter two to be better than the Epson software. However, I found SFast to be non-intuitive and clumsy whilst VueScan gave horrible colour casts. Using EpsonScan on default settings gives me quite acceptable results (to my eyes anyway). Looking at the demos on the LaserSoft website, v8 has a simplified interface and the SE Plus version (€59.50 to upgrade) offers semi-automated dust/scratch removal, which might tempt me to try and rescue my old slides. Basically, the questions are - has anyone used v8 and if so, how is it in comparison with earlier versions and with EpsonScan?
Advertisement Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Hi Keith (M), Take a look here SiverFast SE Plus 8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stealth3kpl Posted November 2, 2012 Share #2 Posted November 2, 2012 Rather amusingly, perhaps forbodingly, the 'show-personal-upgrade-price' link in my email from Silverfast opens a window which crashes. Pete
SteveYork Posted November 6, 2012 Share #3 Posted November 6, 2012 I tried a demo of Silverfast 8 on my nikon scanner. My old computer finally gave up, and nikonscan didn't operate on the new one. I wanted the silverfast to work. I didn't want to use the other guy because I found some of his antics offensive. But after a weekend of fiddling, I just couldn't get it to do batch scans. The other guy's software works fine. Very easy to understand too.
tobey bilek Posted November 17, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 17, 2012 I find Epson works fine . Removed the Silverfast that came with it from my computer. It is a tangled mess of icons I would have to memorize. Viewscan gave terrible colors. I use KM software on my Minolta 5400. Works just fine.
