FlorianM Posted October 28, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted October 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Given the new live-view capabilities, what would you like to see? 24-70 zoom? The 28-50 MATE brought back? Tilt-Shift lenses? Â I think I would like to see a collapsible 50 Macro-Elmarit.
Advertisement Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Hi FlorianM, Take a look here What NEW lenses would you like for the new M?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Paul J Posted October 28, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted October 28, 2012 14-300mm Vario-Noctilux with image stabilization and hot pie drawer or draught tap all in the size of 50mm summilux. Â Â Overall I have to say though I'm happy with Primes. I would rather buy another body so I can use a 35 and 50 at the same time which is why I'm getting the M. Â Maybe a 35mm Shift lens would be cool. I would like to see some Leica made/grade close up attachments. I would love to see a 35mm and 75mm Noctilux but maybe that's as laughable as the first one. A 135 Summicron would be really very welcomed. (my 135L is the only reason I lug my Canon gear around at times). Â Of corse I wouldn't say no to a 24-70 f2.8 if it can match my primes. I bet Leica, if anyone, would be the first to offer a ground breaking 24-70 f2 Summicron (if it's achievable).
Guest MarcRF Posted October 28, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted October 28, 2012 why would you need new lenses? given the R lenses that are available now you got everything you need.. Â they could probably do some more for the 75/90/135 focal lengths... improve the 75 lux, create a smaller 90 and a 135 cron... some more exotic lenses probably, given their talent they can do it
Tonki-M Posted October 28, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted October 28, 2012 why would you need new lenses? given the R lenses that are available now you got everything you need.. Â the versatility of the new M is the 'R solution' R users have been waiting for, but it wouldn't be a stretch of imagination that the new M just opened up a whole new horizon to the M line up. sure, most of the focal length are already covered by the bulky R (that requires adapter to use), but isnt the prestige of the M lens lies in its performance offered in such a small package? As Erwin Putts stated, making lens to match Leica M lens' performance is not too hard at all if you take out the size factor, but when consider the size, it becomes exponentially more difficult. i'm sure most of us M users would love to see new line up of M lens to go hand-in-hand with the Leica M, at least i am. Guest MarcRF Posted October 28, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted October 28, 2012 but zoom M lenses with which you couldnt use the rangefinder? I dont think that leica will design lenses that wouldnt with with the rangefinder... just because it now has live view

cirke Posted October 28, 2012 Share #7  Posted October 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) a new coded 135 mm maybe 2.8 a 90 and a 28 Summicron based on the new 50 Summicron  and my dream a 43 mm Summilux
skinnfell Posted October 28, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted October 28, 2012 Very good question. Â My dream lens for the M (that doesnt already exist) would be a PC-Elmar 50mm/4 Â Â In other words a tilt/shift normal lens in a small package. Leica just made one for the S so they obviously have the expertise to do it.
janki Posted October 28, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted October 28, 2012 It would be easier for me to go for a procurement of Leica M, if I knew we soon would see a series of new weather sealed lenses. In particular, I can imagine a couple of fast zooms in the range 21-35mm and 50-135mm. If they have a built-in motor for auto focus, it's okay. Then we will know that Leica already is planning a new camera body, perhaps with built in EVF, - just like the Sony Nex7.

Guest MarcRF Posted October 29, 2012 Share #16 Â Posted October 29, 2012 thought about it and the only thing I would really like to see is a collapsible 50 with improved wide open performance I'd really love to own a 50 elmar-M and an improved version would definitely carry a classic spirit in it imo
FlorianM Posted October 29, 2012 Author Share #17  Posted October 29, 2012  and my dream a 43 mm Summilux  Sorry, I have to ask, why 43mm?  also, the 35-90 could be cool, as would a 28-75. If they keep its size down and IQ up I't be excellent, even if it's a constant f4.
tobey bilek Posted October 29, 2012 Share #18 Â Posted October 29, 2012 Updated Telyts, 200 & 280. 2.8 and 3.5 would be nice. A new viso designed to work with the M9. Could we have some kind of electric release so as not to require the mechanical arm. Â I tried mine today on the M9 and they are on a par with the latest Nikon ones, just not as fast. Â So it will not happen as I am the only one in the world who wants it.

If they keep its size down and IQ up I't be excellent, even if it's a constant f4.  I suppose because the full frame sensor's diagonal is 43mm and that length is said to be the focal length to match the view of the human eye or something... so what was once said about the 50mm focal length should be said about a 43mm fl lens. only pentax did one as far as I know   but one could always use the 40mm summicron.. closest as you can get
ynp Posted October 29, 2012 Share #20 Â Posted October 29, 2012 28-75 f.4 weatherproofed will be perfect for travel. I enjoy my Konica Dual 21-35 and a Leica Dual or a RF Zoom can be a good solution for daylight shooting.
