skinnfell Posted October 26, 2012 Share #1  Posted October 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the Summicron-M 28mm. Great lens. However, the lens hood is large and bulky. Then I have seen other versions of the same lens with a round, more classic looking hood.  Like this: http://theconsumerism.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/M9-P-Edition-Hermes-cameras-2.jpg OR like this http://lavidaleica.com/sites/default/files/Leica-M9P-Meister02.jpg  Does anybody know if the round hood only fits on "limited edition" 28/2s? Or if this also fits on a regular production.
Advertisement Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Hi skinnfell, Take a look here Summicron 28 hood - different types. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IWC Doppel Posted October 26, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted October 26, 2012 I think it will only fit the ltd edition, both are not as I understand available separately (Assume you can replace if you own one) Â The 12466 hood is the best option, looks great, is not as neat and costs a small fortune
Lightwrangler Posted October 26, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted October 26, 2012 Does anybody know if the round hood only fits on "limited edition" 28/2s? Â This one fits the "normal" lens. $359.- at Popflash for example. Â Nevertheless I use the Cron 28 without hood, as the lens is very resistant to flare. Just remove the pain-of-a-hood and get a no-name 46mm lenscap for less then $3.- Â Mike
luigi bertolotti Posted October 26, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted October 26, 2012 The round vented (and reversible) hood was firstly made available in silver on some special edition (maybe a "Hermes"), but the (identical, I think) black version was also catalogued - code 12466 ; special edition lenses haven't a different mount, so one can clearly use a 12466 on a "normal" Summicron 28 : I don't know if it is still listed, but this is easy to verify at an official dealer; I think that maybe the lens is still provided with the rectangular 12451 hood. Lightwrangler Posted October 26, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted October 26, 2012 The special edition version has an even, round edge whereas the 12466 has two cut-outs on the outer and inner edge. Â Mike
