wlaidlaw Posted April 6, 2013 Share #841  Posted April 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Chris,  22228's are not cheap second hand. It would be nice if we could get a road map from Leica on accessories, so we could make some plans. If the R to M is going to be longer than 2 months, I will order a 28/90 coded R to M from Andrea Lolli.  The CameraPix R to M is OK for my 80-200 but for the Hartblei Super Rotator that is on the way, I want an adapter where the vertical axis is correctly aligned. Although you can rotate the shift axis on the Hartblei through 360º, it only has detents every 15º, so at the 5º error on the CameraPix adapter, the shift would not be sitting in a detent.  Wilson
Advertisement Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Hi wlaidlaw, Take a look here Preparing for the M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chris_tribble Posted April 6, 2013 Author Share #842 Â Posted April 6, 2013 Wilson - agreed. I decided to get an adapter from Lolli as an interim - I think it's been delivered to our London address, but I'm away at the moment, so haven't been able to pick it up. The ongoing issue then will be the tripod mount. The 80-200 doesn't feel as if it's putting too big a strain on the M body with the new mount design, but it's not my preferred arrangement ... I can't believe Leica got the timing on key accessories like batteries and Leica R to M adapters so wrong!
wlaidlaw Posted April 6, 2013 Share #843 Â Posted April 6, 2013 Chris, Â Dependant upon how you find the Lolli adapter, I may get one and cancel my Leica one's order. Â The accessories really are a case of PPPPPPP (Piss Poor Prior Planning Prevents Perfect Performance). Given that the batteries are made by an outside company, who must be used to producing these in huge numbers, totally inexplicable. Â Wilson
chris_tribble Posted April 6, 2013 Author Share #844 Â Posted April 6, 2013 I hope to be in London after the 16th and will report on the Lolli then.

I have the Canon 17mm TS-E and hope, that at least the focus peaking is of some help.  One question to the user of the coded R-M adapter: is the list of the lenses showing the most recent lens on top or do you always have to dig through all lenses, till you find your lens. I have two R-lenses and remembering the last used lenses would be important (but I am afraid. that is too much practical thinking for the Leica programmers).  An alternative would be, to use different profiles for the lenses, but then: why the list of lenses, it would be useless.  dierk
wlaidlaw Posted April 6, 2013 Share #846 Â Posted April 6, 2013 Dierk, Â I will check tomorrow about the R menu with my Muscelli Visoflex lens adapter, which is 28/90 and coded. Â Wilson
wlaidlaw Posted April 7, 2013 Share #847 Â Posted April 7, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dierk, Â The implementation is pretty much all we could wish for (other than being able to call up the R menu manually but Leica have to sell their overpriced R to M adapters somehow ) Â Say you have a coded lens mounted with lens recognition set to auto, remove it and fit a coded 28/90 adapter. If you then press Menu, the lens menu has reset itself to Manual. If you then press Set twice, it takes you into the R lens menu. If you select an R lens and switch off and on again, the same R lens remains selected. If you then remount the coded lens, the lens recognition has reset to Auto all by itself. If you then remount the coded adapter, it has retained the last set R lens. Â Exactly as certainly I would want. Â Wilson
chris_tribble Posted April 7, 2013 Author Share #848 Â Posted April 7, 2013 Good summary - it really is nicely implemented. The only sorrow is that as there's no cam linkage with the adapter, you don't get that really elegant automatic focus assist that you have when you've got an M lens directly attached. I love that with the 135 A-T.
