billh Posted March 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) We had a few days of beautiful sunny, warm weather - and then the temperature plummeted and heavy rains came, which eventually became ice, and then snow. I apologize because this is not a Leica shot, but it is posted to share the humor I see in the look on this bird’s face, not as an example of a pretty photo. It is difficult to imagine any human being any grumpier about the weather conditions that made this very unwelcome return visit!
Advertisement Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Hi billh, Take a look here Really grumpy about the wet weather . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted March 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2007 Perfect. Absolutely perfect. If that isn't a face of someone who is really pissed off with life, I don't know what is. Made me laugh out loud.
dan_drabek Posted March 17, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 17, 2007 Wonderful catch Bill. We used to get cardinals at our feeders when we lived in Minnesota. We used to watch them during the most miserable of weather. We have missed them greatly since we moved out west. DD
fotografr Posted March 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 17, 2007 This reminds me very much of a famous photograph of a Bluebird on a fencepost looking extremely upset. The photographer got famous pretty much mainly for that shot. Check it out: The Mad Bluebird by Wildlife Photographer Michael L. Smith

lambroving Posted March 18, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 18, 2007 Bill, I can relate. We never got the rain, only a foot of heavy snow with a thick ice crust. Maybe he migrated from here?

elansprint72 Posted March 18, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 18, 2007 :D We have the same weather pattern over here (although not as extreme), last Wednesday/Thursday was 16/18 degrees, t-shirt weather: today gales, rain, sleet hailstones and snow, about 6 degrees. billh Posted March 19, 2007 Author Share #12 Posted March 19, 2007 I’m glad you guys enjoyed it too. It has been a big hit hanging in the local wild bird food store. My guess he would really be grumpy is he knew all the dry, warm humans were sitting around laughing at him! Brent, thanks for that link. People who have seen the grumpy Cardinal have been telling me about the Bluebird photo.
