Leica engraving font or artwork

I find several fonts in Windows XP which "look like" script, such as Bradley Hand ITC, Brush Script MT, French Script MT or Lucida Handwriting. Unfortunately, none of them looks like Leica's. In fact, I find all of them ugly as hell.

Just to while the time away until he sees this thread - I've just found two fonts which go in the desired direction, although they do not look that similar to the desired one, I'm afraid:

We are waiting for HIM... :)

Identifont - Lars Bergquist

Absolutely! I've read comments here that seem to suggest that it is easy to take part of a typeface (script type) and extrapolate to create a complete character set. I find that to be a gross underestimation of the nuances of type design. Lars could possibly set me/us straight on that. Lars?

Philipp, note how the capital L does not merge to the 'e' properly in both cases. Not good, IMHO.

Yes, certainly. As I said earlier, the capitals (or capital) is not likely to be part of a font. The smaller case letters look roughly similar to those wanted.

The examples were meant to illustrate that the lettering can indeed be represented as a set of discrete glyphs of a font even if apparently daisy chained.

Another CAMERA ? The same lettering is used in front engravings "Leica Motor" (very long L____ ) in "Leicavit"... ; of course, there are the current red dots like in my M8... but not other bodies come to my mind... Any of the compacts , maybe ? There had been a 18x24 prototype front-engraved Leica (classic) BOX...

Yepp, another Camera with classic "Leica" engraving on the front;)

...and NO prototype!

Not as easy, as I thought?:D

perhaps my hint

"my searched Leica is a little bit common as muck" will help You?

It's imo a scurrylous camera;), no person of good taste would be proud to carry this model in front of his chest, everybody would turn his view to him....

kind regards

Thomas

That DOES smell... of commemoratives / specials... but they were so many some years ago....

Maybe... is the writing engraved on some SPECIAL material ? ;)
