naturephoto1 Posted November 24, 2012 Share #21  Posted November 24, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been trying the 560 Telyt on a Visoflex with the mirror swung up with the EP-2/VF-2 (1120mmEFOV). The slightest touch is enough is enough to vibrate the set up, even on a massive Manfrotto large format 074B tripod and a 222 heavy duty joystick head (admittedly on carpet and a wood floor). A remote release or a 12 sec delayed release is essential. A 2 second delay was not enough to allow vibrations to decay from focusing the lens. Focusing with a Televit is much easier than twiddling a focus ring. I just hope that Luigi comes up with his 14138 adapter ring copies, to use the Telyt 280 head on the Televit.  Wilson  Wilson,  In the late 80's or early 90's I designed and had built a long plate that we could adjust the position to the camera/560mm f6.8 Telyt lens that can be seen partially in my R system photo. Recently I added a 6" ProMedia Gear rail to the bottom of this to further allow for adjustment for the positioning and balancing of the lens and the camera system (also visible in the photo).  These modifications allowed for much better balance and handling and stability of the lens on either the Leica Grip/Gunstock in the photo as well as on the tripods with the Arca Swiss type QR clamps. Previous to the addition of the ProMedia Gear rail I had shown the set-up to Leica USA at Photo Plus probably in the late 90s to mid 2000's and they very much liked what had been done to the lens but as they indicated they had destroyed the tool and dyes for the lens.  More recently, I have also gotten the Really Right Stuff Long Lens support system:  Lens Support Pkg, dual Quick-Release - CB-YS-QR-Pkg - Kit Configuration Page  but, I have replaced their mounting system with a back to back ProMedia Gear back to back clamps.  Additionally, I can use this system alone or together with RRS Full Gimbal Head (which can also be used alone):  PG-02 FG: PG-02 Full Gimbal Head - PG-02-FG - Kit Configuration Page  with both my 560mm f6.8 Telyt or with my 280mm f2.8 Apo Telyt lens.  I will have to run some testing with these lenses with these configurations with my Lumix G1.  Rich Welcome, dear visitor! That mount would be a very good solution for a long lens which has a fair length of uncluttered tube but then most of the lenses like that already have a tripod mount built in. It is a good price, however. I have always lusted after one of their lovely wooden tripods.  Wilson
wlaidlaw Posted November 30, 2012 Author Share #24 Â Posted November 30, 2012 In a perfect example of Murphy's Law, having bought a Canon Tripod Lens support in the UK, one and a half months after ordering from Hong Kong, the identical metal mount ring to that shown in my post #14, above has turned up, when I assumed it had got lost. The post rates in the UK make it uneconomic to return. If anyone wants it for a fiver plus postage, please PM me. As I posted above, it goes from a slightly tight fit to pretty much perfect for the Vario Elmar 80-200/f4, if you bevel the edges slightly with a Dremel tool. I should be happy to do this on request. It does make for a rock solid mount with this lens. Â Wilson
