King of Bokeh ? Well, I don't know about that but I really like this little lens.

as an update, i had in my mind to get the v1 5cm summicron coll, when my local dealer called that he had the summitar 5cm f2 in excellent condition. long story short, i now own the summitar :) and so far, am loving it. it gives the feel of the old leica lens that i wanted.

Congrats on your purchase! Show us some pics when you get it. In case anyone else is contemplating a Summarit, here are some more examples:

Yes agree, very nice shoots with the Summarit, which is a lens I have considered.

The Summitar - I own a 1950 coated ten bladed copy - is a great lens which I use with my TTL. Some say its colour rendition is a bit unusual but I have not found that. It is a sharp lens in my experience and the fact that it collapses adds a lot to the portability of the camera.

Edit: Here's an older shot wide open.

Exactly the lens I have with exactly the same experiences. ;)

Sony NEX 5

ISO 200 1250th prob at f4 or 5.6

with a 100% blowup

ahh, the magic of hyperfocal focus, and the magic of the Summitar (sadly sold, but happily replaced with a Summicron Rigid)...

I strongly recommend you buy and read the Leica pocket book edition 8

It has the MTF curves for most lenses so you can see easily the better ones

Draw and colour are something else, but you can't go wrong starting from here
