sjefjans Posted September 21, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 21, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I decided to empty out my bottles of Diafine A and B. Before pouring in new solutions of diafine I want to have clean bottles. The A bottle is clean, the B bottle has several patches of deposit. Hard to get by with a brush, so I tried with warm water and soda, warm water and cleaning vinigar. No result. Does any of you had experience with solving this problem. I don't want to throw away a perfectly good brown glass bottle.

sjefjans Posted September 21, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted September 21, 2012 wouldn't chlorine bleach affect the glass. I will try on the bottom of the bottle.
Larcomb Posted September 21, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 21, 2012 wouldn't chlorine bleach affect the glass. I will try on the bottom of the bottle. Not usually. Glass is not porous.
MPerson Posted September 21, 2012 Share #5 Posted September 21, 2012 How long did you wait for the soda to soften the crud? I recently finished a batch of Diafine that was 19 months old. I added washing soda to the bottle, filled with boiling water and left to soak overnight. Came off OK with a bottle brush next morning.
sjefjans Posted September 22, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted September 22, 2012 Came off OK with a bottle brush next morning. I don't have a brush fine enough to enter the bottle. And the diafine was much older (a couple of years....)
sjefjans Posted September 26, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted September 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have found a suitable brush. The bottles are perfectly clean again and filled with fresh Diafine. The chlorine bleach did the trick. Thanks!
