Battlefield find (WWII)

I think that for WWII buffs at least, if not for Leica collectors, the value of the item would rise considerably if there was a clear battlefield provenience – found where?

Battlefield archaeology is a growing and respectable academic speciality. The trouble is that in many parts of Europe, there are too damn many battlefields.

Cannot open the Ebay link from here as usually if it is included WWII in the description.

That is bizarre! Over the top!

I would mirror the page with the WWII removed, but it might be a copyright violation.

Camera's serial number is 337846

By the way, the seller has a lot of battlefield artifacts, including what might be grenades. Scarey.

I found myself wondering if it is unusual that the camera has no military markings

According to S/N it is 1939 vintage, it could have been private camera or military one without markings. I would imagine with a bit of serendipity it could be traced to original owner.

Seller is not asking for a fortune, auction stands at about $60 for a piece of war scrap, chromed brass parts survived pretty well.

it is weird- ebay has bans of WWII items on some of its sites. JC- if you go into ebay.com- not .com.it- you may be able to see the item. I tried to sell one of the gold Heer russian 'leica's on ebay and it got removed due to some 'hate speech' rule...
