pauledell Posted September 18, 2012 Share #6 Posted September 18, 2012 A great shot. Perhaps if you crop out the cars at the top and a bit of the left side it would make it just a little stronger. Paul
insomnia Posted September 18, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted September 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for your suggestions, I think by cropping it loses too much of the surroundings and I also like the line of stones on the left, the downcoming truck as a "threat" to the scene is lost and so on. She however, is stronger when cropped. Gee, I don't know
Bateleur Posted September 19, 2012 Share #8 Posted September 19, 2012 Interesting change to the effect of the picture. While my eye tends to run up out of the picture in the new crop, the girl is enhanced, though I feel the dramatic air of the original full frame image is lost though. Not an easy call! Regards Charles d'accord. I think the first image is the best one. It don't need a crop. just my 2 cents Glück Auf A
pauledell Posted September 19, 2012 Share #10 Posted September 19, 2012 While I think your cropped version makes the child the center of attention (I would have cropped out the auto wheel at the top of your revised picture), If it was your intent to use the background elements as a part of the image, by all means do so. It is a fine picture without the crop. Paul
insomnia Posted September 19, 2012 Author Share #11 Posted September 19, 2012 Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I will keep it as is in #1 - just showed the crop to visualize my concerns. I printed it in A3 today and it works splendid Regards, Michael
hsw Posted September 19, 2012 Share #12 Posted September 19, 2012 Thanks, I'm really happy with this one Just the two modern cars are a bit off In 20 years, when people are still looking at this delightful image, the cars will no longer be modern. This is a delightful image as it stands. Sometimes we try too much to emulate the feel and era of HCB; but this is our time, we should document it as it stands.
