jip Posted September 10, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can buy a Leica Summicron latest model but without 6bit for 950 euro including tax, that makes 798 after I reclaim the tax. Is this a good buy? Ooh and could someone tell me from what year this lens is? With the serial number or something? I'm not too good at that Thanks allot! Here are some pictures of the lens:
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Hi jip, Take a look here Price for Leica Summicron (latest model). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted September 10, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2012 A lens from a batch dated 1994; If glass is good (there are some signs on the front element ?) is a honest price : this is the first comparable I found at a good dealer's : http://www.newoldcamera.com/Scheda.aspx?Codice=MC2234&Tipo=OB&Sql=+HIKNlAITN8UUbvAeTXmfwrd2l8IxoXjJFHEYQSdFn+3Y19Vs/E9i82Owe5OxgCjpvB17URNvX1y9Frg/gJmExfi/+uF8olRZklrphQCqxK553QmmdEwujexDzAlfk/DeXbKeTSgIPQtKEHHv1FzxCNF6cEhF0WIpCUmK5DeuPgCPlES5r7SuWDhAKl4bkuA

philipus Posted September 11, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2012 IOoh and could someone tell me from what year this lens is? With the serial number or something? Yes. The Wiki (see the tabs at the top of every page) is of course an eminent location for this and a wealth of other information. The serial number lists at Cameraquest.com (for M cameras and for Barnacks) and Forloren.dk (for lenses 1933-2000) shouldn't be overlooked, though, nor should Summilux.net's search query, which (however only) gives the year. IWC Doppel Posted September 11, 2012 Share #6 Posted September 11, 2012 That is a good price if the lens is as good as it looks
lars_bergquist Posted September 12, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 12, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) And 1994 was the first year when the lens was offered with its current mount – no focusing tab, and pull-out hood. The 'marks' on the front lens are probably just dust. And 6-bit coding makes no discernible difference to the result. It's just for the EXIF file, which is a convenience and nothing more. jip Posted September 13, 2012 Author Share #8 Posted September 13, 2012 Ordered it today, looking forward to using it. Probably will let it be 6 coded.
jip Posted September 14, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted September 14, 2012 So I received the lens, it came with the nappa leather bag, rear/back cap BUT NO front cap!! But they did throw in a NEW unused Leica UV/IR filter in. hmmm... I think I'll buy a cap, but I must admin I never have one on the 28mm Elmarit-M either. But it's more protected by the hood. mikebidwell Posted September 15, 2012 Share #10 Posted September 15, 2012 Good morning Jip I've just read your latest reply and note that the front cap did not come with your Summicron lens. For your information the part number for lens cap that came with my lens which is the same as yours is 14038 -E39 I hope this is of some use to you should you decide to obtain a new one. Best wishes Mike
wda Posted September 15, 2012 Share #11 Posted September 15, 2012 It is definitely worth buying a front lens cap. Good insurance against finger prints or worse!
jip Posted September 15, 2012 Author Share #12 Posted September 15, 2012 Thanks for the ordering number, and yes I will get a new one. I'll go and get one at my Leica dealer.
