35mm Noctilux

... I do not see why a 35/1 should be physically larger than a 50/1, or at least not immediately. Is there an obvious (or otherwise) reason for that?

I'm no expert, so I'm just speculating ... but I'd agree with you: it should be possible to build a 35 mm 1:1 lens which is about the same size as the 50 mm Noctilux, give or take a bit. I guess it would be the same diameter but somewhat longer, physically. But then, the Noctilux-M 50 mm Asph obstructs almost one quarter of the viewfinder's 50-mm frame—the obstruction of the 35-mm frame would be even worse. That most likely also is the reason why there is no Summilux-M 28 mm; it certainly would be possible to make it, but it is hardly possible to make good use of it due to excessive viewfinder obstruction (the Summilux-M 24 mm and 21 mm lenses use external viewfinders, so this is no problem here).

Maybe the new Leica M will change the game with regard to super-fast lenses, as viewfinder obstruction can be circumvented by simply using live-view. So maybe we will see a Noctilux-M 35 mm and a Summilux-M 28 mm lens in the future. Or maybe not. Don't hold your breath.

It turns out that Nokia and Zeiss is a bit of a Lemon. THey are not even releasing it officially in the UK. When it seems things are too good to be true, it usually is.

It is not a lemon. It is an excellent phone and a very capable camera. 13x19 prints of the images taken with Nokia 808 are very good..It is only $559 on Amazon. I stopped carring a real camera since I had obtained Nokia.
