i arrived home today and without warning or fanfare, the 28mm f/2.0 lens i had ordered early february, was sitting at my doorstep, ups delivery, no signature required. happy, and surprised, to see it. hopefully this signals an increase in delivery of discounted lenses.

This gives me hope. You did have to send the original request to Germany, right? Did they inform you that it would be coming from Leica USA?

I have the exact same question. I ordered the 28 2.0 on discount also and sent the sheet to Germany but have heard nothing. Didn't you recieve word from NJ confirming the order or advising that your credit card had been charged before it arrived?

james- yes, sent request direct to solms. further, i had neglected to enclose with order form my receipts. asked new jersey what to do, they suggested faxing to someone in solms. figured that would either slow down the process or completely derail, but didn't. about six or seven weeks in total. came from allendale and they told me nothing- it just appeared.

James, Stephen,

I sent my order and original invoice to Gemany as directed. I sent it at the end of January, and about a month later got a letter dated February 22 stating that my order had been "booked" and that the lens would be sent to me by Leica USA. (They returned my original invoice as well.) Last week, March 9, Leica charged the lens to my credit card. On Monday, March 12, I called Leica USA and they confirmed that I'd been charged for the lens and that it was going out that day. According to the tracking number, it should arrive tomorrow, UPS second day air.

The only notice I got without asking was the letter from Germany confirming my order. Had I not noticed the charge and called Leica, I would've gotten the lens as a surprise as Bogle did.

I spoke to Leica USA about the whole process and got this answer: the lens is ordered from Germany and shipped to Leica USA. Leica USA then charges your credit card and ships the lens to you. So, if you see the charge, your lens should be in the US and on its way to you.

I got my WATE with finder yesterday, courtesy of Leica. I had had no information from them other than a return of my original receipt about a month ago. The package had the box with the WATE and finder inside, and a standard Leica US warranty. Interestingly, no receipt for the transaction came with it.

Bill I specifically asked this question to Leica at PMA if the letter that was sent to the US market will the prices stay until the end of the promotion which is June 07. The answer was yes, the Nocti is 2735.00 US and will stay at that price until this ends. Same with the rest of the prices. It's a great deal

Great Guy,

I probably should have ordered something I would use more like the 35 lux to replace my 35 cron but the price was too tempting. The temptation is to just leave it in the box and sell it but I would need to make enough to offset what I could have ordered the 35 lux for in the first place. Well see. Still coming to Phoenix the end of April, about the 24th and I will email you. Would love to visit if you are around.

"was sitting at my doorstep, ups delivery, no signature required"

I have to say that I find this part a little disturbing. I just used my 30 percent discount to order a 50 lux. I guess I just don't like the idea of knowing that one day in the near future, a $2,000+ lens is going to be sitting on my doorstep for several hours until I get home from work. Or even worse - for a few days, if I happen to be sent out of town for work.

I wonder if there is any way to make sure they require a signature for delivery.

Well you had to buy the M8 before December 31st of 06 and paid for it also. Than you had to register it on the Leica site starting Dec 6th of 06. If you bought after Jan. 1 07 than you are NOT enititled to this discount. The discount was for folks that bought the camera and it was recalled for a hardware fix.
