Nice. So that's an M9-P Mono chrome...? here's another couple of interesting "Editions"

Brett- It's probably Number 44 of 50 hence N44/50. That 44 corresponds to the last 2 numbers of the Serial number shown in your photo, i.e., 4342444. So N50/50 is probably serial number 4342450.

My M is 4342xxx, several hundred numbers above this serial number but not that many above it.

Why would it be a joke? Leica have simply fitted chrome top and base plates as per the M9p and a silver hotshoe, no doubt for a hefty a la carte premium!

Because the poster hasn't answered some of the questions posted here such as....

- How he organised getting a silver, and

- What the price was.

If these are so secretive, why post?

It's understandable to think this if those questions are being ignored. For all anyone knows he had his service guys switch the top and bottom plates with his M9-P and peeled away the paint on the hot shoe. It would probably be helpful to people to answer those questions. If it's such a secret I'm sure the OP wouldn't even have posted in the first place.

Cool, but wondering why it's 1 of 50 and why the full serial number is engraved on the top plate in white?

PS Do you get "flashing" clipping??

Brett- Where did that photo of the N44/50 body come from? That would no doubt answer part of the question. If it is a loaner then they produced 50 of them for more pre-production. I am no expert, but that's my thoughts.

It's my photo, yes, maybe prototypes then 50 pre-production. Thanks.

Wow - will ISO 10.000 on the MM become my favorite look, as ISO 1.600 was my permanent setting on the EPSON R-D1 ?

I absolutely love that look! thanks for sharing - please continue!

I have to admit, that the recent Leica M8 affair really upsets my own view on the digital M and I truly might sway from being an advocate of nicely used, brassing black paint bodies to cosmetic perfection, kept over a lifetime of use for best resale value.

The MM in silver chrome looks nice indeed, although I would have liked a lifelong supported MM in black paint on brass, but Leica seems not to stand behind such an idea.

If it bothers you that much why not pick up the phone to Leica and ask for a quote?

Answer to your questions:

- How he organised getting a silver, and

* I just asked Leica if I could get a chrome one, easy as that, as i said early in the post...

- What the price was.

* Not much, as I also answered early in this thread, and because i use my own contacts in Leica Solms to

get this done, i will not announce exactly what i paid for it... just ask and you will get a quote from them, it's

as easy as that...

- If these are so secretive, why post?

* Why not, do we need to announce every detail about a thing to get a permit for showing them here?

I really do not understand the point behind this comment, please explain?

That's why ... thanks for sharing the info, Alex. I don't think my dealer has ever dealt with anything like this as far as I was told.

Ah, what I really want is actually not a white one ... I want the Hammertone - but they'll probably restrict that to the limited editions.

Cheers,

Can anyone with a production MM FW 0.017 confirm that the red overexposure clipping now "flashes" on the review screen? On the prototypes it was permanent... am I missing something?

It does,(flashes) and it works perfect...(or would you rather like it permanent?)

Alexandra - congratulations.

Really interested to hear how the firmware is on this + what happens with SD cards and discreet mode etc. I'm sure that Leica will have done enough testing on this for there to be no problems, but it will be very helpful to hear your hands-on experience. BTW - are you still holding onto an M9? GREAT to hear contrasting experiences there.

Enjoy :)

Nothing happens in discreet mode, the camera acts normal, just like my M9-P...(what was it suppose to be doing, was there a firmware fault?)
