David Monkhouse Posted August 21, 2012 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not just any seat but the one overlooking the grave of Kathleen Kennedy, the sister of President John F. Kennedy who visited the grave just before his own death in 1963. Kathleen married William Cavendish, Marquis of Hartington, the eldest son and heir-apparent of the 10th Duke of Devonshire in 1944. Four months after their marriage, William was killed in action while serving in World War II. Tragically, Kathleen died 4 years later as the result of a light airplane crash in the Ardèche, France. Kathleen is buried in the Cavendish family plot at Saint Peter's Church in the village of Edensor, near Chatsworth House, the home of the present Duke of Devonshire.
