ful66 Posted August 19, 2012 Share #1 Posted August 19, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I'm new to this forum and wanted to ask if someone could kindly enlighten me on the following: I have a Leitz Wetzlar M2 21-35 & M3 135 LTM to M adapter to use on my M9 and was told by the shop that sold me it that the adapter would work with a Canon LTM 50mm 1.4 lens. Sure enough it mounts on the M9 fine and focusses ok but there is the issue of the frame lines. Whenever it clicks into place it does not show the 50mm frame lines only the 35mm and to 21mm if i turn the adapter further into position? Am I right in thinking this adapter will not show the 50mm frame lines? The only way I can get the 50mm frame lines to show is if I place the lens adapter into a position between the 21 and 35mm clicking positions, does that make sense?!Thanks in advance for any help or enlightenment on the matter. Advertisement Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Hi ful66, Take a look here Leiztz Wetzlar M2 21-35 & M3 135 LTM to M adapter 50mm framelines problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bill Posted August 19, 2012 Share #2 Posted August 19, 2012 Well, first of all, welcome! The adaptor will work with the 50, but it will NOT bring up the correct framelines. Framelines run in pairs - 28-90, 35-135 and 50-75. What you have is a (correctly working) older adapter that will bring up the 35mm framelines which are of course wrong for your lens. There are plenty of these adaptors about, including some cheap shockers from eBay. The Leica and Cosina Voigtlander ones are reliably good. If the shop specifically said that the adaptor was correct for the 50mm lens you should take it back and complain. Do not try to make it work, by the way - loosening or turning the lens in the mount will affect your focussing. Hope this helps! ful66 Posted August 19, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted August 19, 2012 Bill thanks a lot for your help and advice, and very quick response! Is the Leitz Wetzlar LTM to M2 50 - M3 28mm-50mm bayonet adapter the one i need for the 50mm lens to show the correct frame lines? Thanks again for your kind help. I bought the adapter many moons so don't think the shop will accommodate a refund. I'll have to sell it on Ebay by the looks of it! kind regards ful
jaapv Posted August 19, 2012 Share #4 Posted August 19, 2012 Well, the other thing you could do is get a lens to fit the adapter,,
jankap Posted August 19, 2012 Share #5 Posted August 19, 2012 I also had the problem to adapt LTM (Leica Thread Mount) to M for my Ricoh M-Mount. The one Leitz sold for the 50mm lens had the name IRZOO. Should I have bought the last one available at Ebay? The other ones were ISBOO (90mm) and ISOOZ (135mm). As Bill explained they fit for pairs of lenses. Voigtländer offers 3 versions too. The IRZOO has the advantage, that it fits for the Elmar 3.5/50 with the lock at infinity, but that is not your application. Jan
