Advertisement Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Hi zischga, Take a look here Can i take this piece off? (Summicron M 35mm). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
01af Posted August 16, 2012 Share #2 Posted August 16, 2012 Yes, you can. But then you won't be able to focus properly (not even close).
Maarten Posted August 16, 2012 Share #3 Posted August 16, 2012 The so called spectacles can be taken off mechanically but the lens focusing mechanism wouldn't work anymore. The spectacles make the M3 viewfinder suitable to use a 35 mm lens by changing the magnification. The focusing of the lens has been adapted to work on the changed viewfinder magnification. On a Leica M2 or M4 your lens will work as well because it will activate the 50 mm frame lines. These will be changed the same way the M3 frame lines are changed and the correct focusing will be maintained. Wish you many nice pictures with your beautiful Summicron. gyoung Posted August 16, 2012 Share #4 Posted August 16, 2012 Works on m6 as well by personal experience
tobey bilek Posted August 26, 2012 Share #5 Posted August 26, 2012 It will work on the M6 as is, but the image will be inside the 50 mm lines instead of 35 therefore smaller. Great if you wear glasses. There will be some loss of contrast in the viewfinder. If you remove, it will not focus properly. It will not code for digital Leica. It needs a replacement mount flange and the one on the lens is integral and can not be removed. You can use it for digi without the code and use Corner fix.
