shootinglulu Posted August 5, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted August 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Will the recorded shutter clicks be accurate in an M9/M8 which has been fitted with a new sensor? Thanks:)
Advertisement Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Hi shootinglulu, Take a look here New sensor and shutter count?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted August 5, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted August 5, 2012 Yes. Â Steve
thighslapper Posted August 5, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted August 5, 2012 Sensor and board are replaced so actuations will be set back to zero, save the usual 100 or so for adjustment, calibration and testing. Â I assume thats what you meant.....
jamesk8752 Posted August 6, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted August 6, 2012 So which reply is correct? Â Regards, Jim
250swb Posted August 6, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted August 6, 2012 I'm simply going by my personal experience which is why I said 'yes'. Mine was one of the M9's with a cracked sensor, and after it was replaced the shutter count continued as before, although there were some 'extra's' due to testing at Leica. Perhaps Leica replace the board and then add the last shutter count to the memory, but as the shutter has nothing to do with the sensor it would be dishonest for anybody, never mind Leica, to set a 20,000 actuation camera back to zero and send it back in that condition. As a reminder the shutter actuations should not be confused with the file number of an image. Â Steve
jaapv Posted August 6, 2012 Share #6 Â Posted August 6, 2012 When my sensor was replaced the image count was unaltered.
thighslapper Posted August 6, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted August 6, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jaap .... does that apply to the total actuations as well as in Steves case.... ??? (as per M9info) Â if so.....as the sensor and the board are a matched pair.... do Leica re-set the total actuations back to the pre-repair number on the new board ??? Â or is the counter on another bit of circuitry that is untouched ..... Â perhaps professor Norton knows..... Â My 'ex-demo, hardly used, fully refurbished 'original M9 turned out to have 6000 actuations logged ......
jaapv Posted August 6, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted August 6, 2012 I do not know where the counter is located, nor if leica resets the number. I just got it back with a few dozen actuations more than I sent it in with. (test shots I suppose)
