Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted July 30, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 30, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Why is it that most of the Leica lenses in the UK shops are "Out of Stock" and can take 3 months or longer to get them. Where is the best place to buy New Leica lenses with tax free incentives:):)

250swb Posted July 30, 2012 Share #7 Posted July 30, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) What would you reccomend??? Decide what you want and get onto a (good) dealers list. Then wait. There is no point in putting in orders all over the place because the dealers all get a consignment of lenses at the same time. And if a dealer says 'six months' you can usually bet it will be much less. Steve
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted July 30, 2012 Share #8 Posted July 30, 2012 Thanks steve, I got my M9-P and 35mm from Richard Caplan and I am on his waiting list for 2 more lenses so I will stick with them. Thanks
thighslapper Posted July 30, 2012 Share #9 Posted July 30, 2012 I would by a decent used copy to try. Get your name down on one of the major dealers .... Red Dot, Leica Mayfair, Caplan, etc etc. A few will want a small (returnable) deposit. If it turns out to be what you really want, when the nice new shiny one appears sell the used one for roughly what you bought it for. You will lose little if any cash on the deal. Most Leica lenses are well looked after and you may find that a few tiny cosmetic blemishes dont worry you and that second hand will be good enough. Half my lens pile are used. ALL are spot on for focus, most have no outward signs of use...... which I'm afraid cannot be said for the new lot, half of which have been back to Solms for adjustment...

He always has a number of second hand lenses. Check out the 'pre-owned' section of his website.
