Who in the USA works on M7's?

Don Goldberg, also well known as DAG.

He did my M7 (from Oz) about two years ago. A complete strip down and clean etc.

Google him, or wait (not long) for someone to offer his address details. I can't remember.

Sherry Krouter (sp) is another. Well respected.

Much more likely that digital Ms are excluded from service than any film M. Sherry Krauter, for instance, only repairs film Ms since the equipment required to properly calibrate the digital versions is cost prohibitive for her.

A simple email or call to any specialist will answer your question.

Akiva, some weeks before, I had a very nice talk with Sherry Krauter, also regarding my M7.

She works on Leica M7 cameras, best, give her a call (I think, her number is on her website), discuss the issue and follow her instructions, how to best get the work to her.

She seems like a very nice lady to deal with.

So now I have to get myself, finally packing up those lenses and cameras, to send to her ;-)

Are the independents much more reasonable, price wise?
If you're out of warranty generally yes, but the quality varies.

Akiva, try Steve's Camera in Culver City, he repairs Epson rangefinders so I would think an M7 would be a doddle for him. He works on lenses for me and does absolutely brilliant work and is also communicative, unlike the last guy who worked on my lenses.

I've used Sherry & Don both, with good results over the years and across a wide swath of Leica M & R bodies. Sometimes Don gets swamped by taking on large orders, but if you email either him or Sherry, they will get back to you pretty quickly.

Steve Choi is very good. He took over Rudy Lingg's shop and has continued that reputation.

He is good. The last lens he worked on for me was a beat-up looking 35mm Summicron v.1. He sent me the "exploded" pic below when he was working on it. It came back working beautifully and he said it was good for another 30 years. It renders beautifully and is a pleasure to use. I'm sending him a DR 50mm Summicron soon...
