Advertisement Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Hi kivis, Take a look here Who in the USA works on M7's?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
erl Posted July 25, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 25, 2012 Don Goldberg, also well known as DAG. He did my M7 (from Oz) about two years ago. A complete strip down and clean etc. Google him, or wait (not long) for someone to offer his address details. I can't remember. Sherry Krouter (sp) is another. Well respected. sblitz Posted July 25, 2012 Share #3 Posted July 25, 2012 if you contact ken hansen, in florida now, he will certainly have a list.
Jeff S Posted July 25, 2012 Share #4 Posted July 25, 2012 Sherry Krouter (sp) is another. Sherry Krauter. She's a factory trained Leica specialist, having worked for Leitz/Leica affiliates in both the US and Sweden. And she's located near the Leica NJ facility. Scarlet Posted July 25, 2012 Share #5 Posted July 25, 2012 The link in the sticky in the Customer forum is broken. The right page is here http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-news/leica-repair-specialists/
kivis Posted July 26, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted July 26, 2012 The link in the sticky in the Customer forum is broken. The right page is here http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-news/leica-repair-specialists/ That list does not tell you who works on a M7. It is just general. Jeff S Posted July 26, 2012 Share #7 Posted July 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Much more likely that digital Ms are excluded from service than any film M. Sherry Krauter, for instance, only repairs film Ms since the equipment required to properly calibrate the digital versions is cost prohibitive for her. A simple email or call to any specialist will answer your question. Jeff
Scarlet Posted July 26, 2012 Share #8 Posted July 26, 2012 That list does not tell you who works on a M7. It is just general. Apologies for trying to help then. Pick up the phone or send an email.
menos I M6 Posted July 26, 2012 Share #9 Posted July 26, 2012 Akiva, some weeks before, I had a very nice talk with Sherry Krauter, also regarding my M7. She works on Leica M7 cameras, best, give her a call (I think, her number is on her website), discuss the issue and follow her instructions, how to best get the work to her. She seems like a very nice lady to deal with. So now I have to get myself, finally packing up those lenses and cameras, to send to her ;-)
bull40 Posted July 26, 2012 Share #10 Posted July 26, 2012 Why not Leica NJ? I've always been more than satisfied with their work. Are the independents much more reasonable, price wise?
peter_n Posted July 26, 2012 Share #11 Posted July 26, 2012 Are the independents much more reasonable, price wise?If you're out of warranty generally yes, but the quality varies. Akiva, try Steve's Camera in Culver City, he repairs Epson rangefinders so I would think an M7 would be a doddle for him. He works on lenses for me and does absolutely brilliant work and is also communicative, unlike the last guy who worked on my lenses.
Messsucherkamera Posted July 28, 2012 Share #12 Posted July 28, 2012 Sherry Krouter (sp) is another. Well respected. I cannot recommend Sherry Krauter highly enough. Here is her website with contact information: Sherry Krauter.com -- Home of the Golden Touch.
spydrxx Posted July 28, 2012 Share #13 Posted July 28, 2012 I've used Sherry & Don both, with good results over the years and across a wide swath of Leica M & R bodies. Sometimes Don gets swamped by taking on large orders, but if you email either him or Sherry, they will get back to you pretty quickly.

He took over Rudy Lingg's shop and has continued that reputation.
peter_n Posted July 29, 2012 Share #15 Posted July 29, 2012 He is good. The last lens he worked on for me was a beat-up looking 35mm Summicron v.1. He sent me the "exploded" pic below when he was working on it. It came back working beautifully and he said it was good for another 30 years. It renders beautifully and is a pleasure to use. I'm sending him a DR 50mm Summicron soon... Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
