Pixels By Paul Posted July 21, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted July 21, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Â This is my first post here. I am using this lens on an M9. I don't use its central filter, but I do use a circular polarizer with it. Â The CP goes down way into the hood, and I'm afraid I won't be able to get it out. So far, no problem, as I'm being careful. But after today's shoot, it got way way down. I was still able to get it out, but this seems dangerous. Â Anyone have any experience with this? I'll call the Zeiss factory Monday. Â Thanks in advance for any help here. Â Best, Paul

gpwhite Posted July 22, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted July 22, 2012 Yes, Paul, I have had that problem on my ZM 15mm lens. The threads seem to be tight and the flange tall, relative to standard filters. I switched to a B+W UVa with a thick collar, and it was definitely easier to screw in and remove. Â If your current filter is stuck/tight, here is what I did to solve the problem. Use a large lens cloth and press down (hard) on the top of the filter ring. Most of them are knurled, so you can get some traction. The pressure toward the lens actually helps by reducing the pressure of the threads meshing in the lens attachment collar. Then, do not re-attach your filter too tightly, Â How is the ZM 15 on the M9? I sold my ZM 15 when the M9 and 18 Super Elmar came out, so my only experience was on my old M8. jaapv Posted July 22, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted July 22, 2012 Very simple, photographers have been using the following trick for over seventy years: Take a shoe with a rubber sole (preferably reasonably clean), press the filter against it and unscrew. jaapv Posted July 22, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted July 22, 2012 A 15 mm with a polfilter? Rather unusual. One side of the image will be polarized, the other not at all...
Pixels By Paul Posted July 22, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted July 22, 2012 I'm able to balance things on many shots, so I find it quite useful. However, I sure don't want to get it stuck.
